Think about it. We were taught to fear the very thing that has sustained our people for generations, the wisdom, the rituals, the connection to forces greater than ourselves.

We were told that honoring our ancestors was wrong, that seeking divine guidance outside of a building was dangerous, and that anything beyond what we were given was something to be feared.

But let’s get into it… Why is it okay to gather in circles and call on spirit in one place but wrong when our grandmothers did the same?

Why is water holy in one setting but just superstition when poured at an altar?

The Fear Was Manufactured

Our traditions were not just erased; they were rewritten to make us forget who we are. The drum was replaced with silence. The ritual became taboo.

The spirits became demons. And we were told to fear what we once knew so well.

But let me tell you something—our ancestors never left us.

They whisper in the wind, they visit in dreams, they guide us with intuition so strong we feel it in our bones. And now, they are calling us back.

There Are Many Paths - All of Them Ours

Across the continent and throughout the diaspora, our people have always had sacred ways of communing with spirit. Whether it’s through the divination systems of West Africa, the healing ceremonies of the South, the dances that summon protection, or the rites of passage that mark our evolution....our traditions are vast and powerful.

And yet, many of us hesitate. Not because it doesn’t feel right, but because we’ve been conditioned to believe it’s wrong.

But let me ask you this: If it was so wrong, why does it feel like home?

The Work Speaks for Itself

I don’t argue with those who choose not to see. The work does what it’s meant to do. Women who were told they’d never conceive are giving birth. Souls who felt lost are finding clarity. Those who doubted now move with certainty. This isn’t theory, it’s reality. The ancestors don’t need permission to move. They just do.

The Elders Knew. Now It’s Your Turn.

Our grandmothers and great-grandmothers never needed a title for what they did. They just knew. They placed protective symbols above doorways. They burned certain herbs when energy felt off. They spoke over their children’s heads before they walked out the door. They understood the power in their hands, their words, their spirit.
